The 1960s in Roman Numerals
Every year of the 1960s, converted: 1960 is MCMLX and 1969 is MCMLXIX. Birth years from this decade are among the most converted numbers there are — for tattoos, pendants, anniversary pieces and the copyright line at the end of a film.
Year by year: 1960–1969
| Year | Roman numerals | Turns in 2026 | Year | Roman numerals | Turns in 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960 | MCMLX | 66 | 1961 | MCMLXI | 65 |
| 1962 | MCMLXII | 64 | 1963 | MCMLXIII | 63 |
| 1964 | MCMLXIV | 62 | 1965 | MCMLXV | 61 |
| 1966 | MCMLXVI | 60 | 1967 | MCMLXVII | 59 |
| 1968 | MCMLXVIII | 58 | 1969 | MCMLXIX | 57 |
“Turns in 2026” is the age someone born in that year reaches on their birthday in 2026 — the number that matters for milestone pieces: a 40th in 2026 means a 1986 birth year, MCMLXXXVI.
Reading a 1960s year
Every year in this decade opens with MCM — M for 1000, CM for 900, the 1900s. What changes from year to year is the tail after MCM: the tens and units follow exactly the pattern of the 1–100 chart, so 1964 ends in IV and 1969 in IX. If the year is part of a full date — a birth date on a pendant, a wedding date inside a ring — use the date converter so the day and month are converted with it, in the right order.
